tall boys - island of lost souls 7 inch london 1982

nigel lewis, woodie and fenech. its the meteors i tell you. doesnt sound like them though, too much. big nigels got a weird voice, i.e he cannae sing, but it really suits this kinda tune. some of the ones he croons on 'in heaven', the meteors first lp, are my fave tunes. so if yeez dig that vibe then yeez cannae much go wrong wae this here daftie. again on 'big beat', where else would it be??? this really is as cathchy as fuck, both tunes actually. the a-side grows on you a bit, but side get p.p fenechs guitar sound and the heavy meteors influence starts to show. his playing is unmistakeable, the sound anyway. the original meteors at their (almost) prime, but hey had in fact broke up and got a new line up. so whatcha know, they gave themselves a new name and gave it another wee blast. i bet nigel digs what i just said. fan dan..!!

photos machine head and hatebreed fryshuset stockholm 30th january 2010

one big macho, dressed in black and no humour mosh-fest. contrived as a floral dancer but kinda fun to watch. fat tanned men in their 40s with died black hair, facial hair too i might add, holding their breaths in trying to squeeze just one more year out of teenage sex. thats my impression of machine head. hatebreed were just fucking silly crap noise. fucking love nyhc, but that aint fucking nyhc. men pretending theyre not gay, at all, in an aggressive, silly, exagerated way. total evening of poofters. silly but kinda fun. farters..!!

photos ron sexsmith göta källare stockholm april 25th 2011

some photos from the other night. wasnt the best of shows, he should have stopped after 15mins and that would have been enough. he didnt, of course, but he played just over an hour, thankfully. unlike his other 'singer songwriter' chums who can get close to touching 3 fucking hours. as i said, thankfully he didnt do that. on top of this pleasent descision, he seemed a descent chap as well and was very humble. again, very unlike his other desperate contemporary mates. easy night for a change. peace wee curly heid..!!
said the other day that id be putting up pics from the 'nouvelle vague' show, unless of course my arms fell off or some cad teefed ma camera. well...........i went one better and got food poisoning. lost 7 kilos in 24 hours direct out the cakehole and at times felt like i was quite close to death indeed. gravity started having new meanings and the visual colours were fantastic, but if i had a choice about how i get to flying carpet land, i think id choose to the mush-mush tea. although, there was a number of similarities and displeasures. was even on the guest list in case i felt better and didnt go. i was that bad. anywayz.....the good lady went and she said they werent that good and had a new singer who wasnt as mad as the big 'bridget bardot' lookalike the last time. shame and poor poor me. god-damnit..!!

x-ray spex - oh bondage up yours 7 inch london 1977

as youll know by now, the singer of x-ray spex poly styrene, died this week of cancer. so heres my wee tribute to here. this is definetly the one that made them great and remembered for an eternity. its over played, its on every compilation of punk under the sun, youve heard it millions of times but theres no denying how classicaly important this was for punk. brash as yir arse, and with a saxaphone of all things. still really do think that they could have done without the sax, but thats me. poly wis feminist, strong and punk. fantastic..!!
R.I.P the wee lassie wae the curly hair. hope your in a happier place. peace..!
